Join a Community Workday on Newkirk Avenue
The second workday along Newkirk Avenue from the Newkirk Cares Collaborative and Compost for Brooklyn is taking place on Sunday, April 15:
It’s time to show Newkirk Avenue some love! Do you live, work, study, play, park, bike, or walk on Newkirk Avenue? Compost for Brooklyn and Newkirk Cares Collaborative will be hosting monthly community workdays to care for the street trees along our Newkirk Avenue, and we need your help:
On March 18, April 15, and May 20, we will be building tree guards along the Newkirk Avenue corridor. Not only will this help protect the trees in our neighborhood, but you will learn about woodworking, taking care of street trees, composting! To join, email us at newkirk.collaborative@gmail.com or just meet us at Compost for Brooklyn at 10am.
Additionally, the Parkville Farmshare core group will be providing healthy snacks for the street gardening workday volunteers. Anyone who is interested in learning more about the new CSA or signing up for a share is welcome to stop by to meet them. They will have sign up sheets and details on hand at the event.
