John Liu Doesn’t Want to Raise Your Rent

Capital NY reports NYC Comptroller John Liu wants the Rent Guidelines Board to issue a rent freeze for the next year, which would make rent-stabilized apartments even more rent-stabilized. Between the “economically challenging times” and the “significant delays” in planned affordable housing (including our very own (sort of) Atlantic Yards project), Liu ‘s arguing that it’s in the city’s interest to stave off the proposed hikes — up to 4% for one-year leases and 6.75% for two-year leases.

Stay tuned: the Rent Guidelines Board is scheduled to vote on the issue this Thursday.
