Joe’s Pizza On 7th Avenue Temporarily Closed

The windows are papered over and a sign announces that Joe’s Pizza, at 173 7th Avenue between Carroll and Garfield, is “temporarily closed,” and will reopen soon. As what, however, it’s not completely clear.

There are no permits for construction on file at the Department of Buildings, and calls to Joe’s number were not answered, though when we passed by earlier this week, we heard some sounds of work going on inside. A commenter on Here’s Park Slope, which first reported the closure, also notes having seen inside a couple days ago, and that the whole space has been gutted.

While we wait to see what happens here, we’re certainly not at a loss for other options — anyone have another nearby favorite for pizza?
