It’s Not Just The G: F Trains Are About To Be Effed This Year, Too

The MTA has plans to shut down F service on weekends this summer, amNY learned yesterday. On top of the G train service disruptions ahead in 2014, F service will be halted on weekends (at least, says MTA spokesman Kevin Ortiz, weekends are the plan for now) to facilitate repairs to the Rutgers tunnel, which was damaged by Hurricane Sandy.

There is no official start date for construction/service disruptions just yet. The MTA has set a preliminary budget of $50 million to repair not only the Rutgers tunnel, but the Cranberry tunnel on the A/C line.
