In The Mirrors. In Russian. This Sunday.
World Theater Day is approaching, and our Russian community plans on celebrating it this Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 5 p.m. at the Shorefront YM-YWHA (3300 Coney Island Avenue).
An encore performance of “In the Mirrors” will run. However, “In the Mirrors” is entirely in Russian.
The play celebrates the legacy of Russian poetry and the cultural figures of the Silver Age. The script is based on excerpts from their widely acclaimed poetry, compilations of rare memoirs, letters, musical improvisations, romances and documentary film clips.
So if you understand Russian, check this out. Even if you don’t, it could be fun to go just to see how many scenes you can understand by relying on visuals instead of dialogue. If that’s the case, I also recommend going with someone who understands Russian, so they can fill you in after.
