In Middle Class Dyker Heights, $5 Million “Mansion” Up For Sale
A solid brick tower with some windows could be called many things but the word mansion hardly tops of the list. Plopped in a low-rise neighborhood, this “mansion” is now on sale for $5 million.
Located on, 1366 70th Street, the house has a roof-top deck that offers a view of the Verrazano-Narrows bridge and is being sold by the real estate agency House-N-Key.
Reported in the Daily News,
Built in 2005, according to city planning department records, the boxy, four-story mansion was one of the last to slip into Dyker Heights before the city approved new zoning laws that limited the height of new buildings in an effort to stave off the rapid development sweeping through the rest of Brooklyn.
The new rules were popular with residents and politicians who were alarmed to see developers begin to tear down single-family homes in the slow-changing neighborhood and replace them with soaring condo buildings.
The real-estate broker, Athena Salavantis, told the Daily News that she was already getting calls for this 8-bedroom house that went up in the market only a week ago.
