Here are the big stories on Bensonhurst Bean from July 7 – 12:
- Bensonhurst Bean has joined forces with Corner Media, forming the largest online neighborhood news network in Brooklyn.
- Police responded to neighbor’s complaints of a foul smell coming from a Borough Park apartment. Inside, they found a 27-year-old disturbed woman living in squalor. After investigating, they found the skeletal remains of her mother, which had been left to decompose for years.
- A carjacker and suspected murderer attempted to evade police on the Verrazano Bridge, causing cops to open fire. After a two-day manhunt, he was brought to justice.
- The Uzbek community community mourned the loss of 2-year-old Ruhshona Kurbonova, a Mapleton tot who drowned in Prospect Park lake last weekend.
- Two men. one from Bensonhurst, were convicted for the stabbing murder of a Brighton Beach man on 86th Street.
- The Department of Transportation has agreed to make street repairs on Bay Parkway and other area streets.
