Hugo & Sons Now Open On 7th Avenue
The corner of 7th Avenue and 11th Street is suddenly hopping again after a storefront that had been shuttered for decades is now home to a restaurant and pizzeria.
Hugo & Sons is now open at 367 7th Avenue, in a space that, since the 1970s, had been used as the building owner’s art studio. They’re currently only open for dinner, and that menu features a range of Italian- and French-inspired dishes, from a crispy artichoke appetizer ($13) and a nicoise salad ($15), to rock shrimp linguine ($20) and steak frites (market price). There are also a few options for kids (from organic chicken nuggets to gnocchi in butter, each $12), plus, with a wood-fired oven installed, they’ve also got a selection of pizzas.
They’ve got a separate pizzeria area on the 11th Street side, which is apparently more casual, where they’re serving up pizzas and salads. Their Neapolitan-style pizzas range from $13 to $17, and you can get a gluten-free crust for $3 extra. Pie varieties include the basic Hugo ($13), with tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil; the Mara ($15), with pears, mascarpone, stilton, walnuts, and baby arugula; the Chattanooga ($17), with meatballs, Italian sausage, peppers, red onions, tomatoes, mozzarella, and parmesan; and more.
Their hours are Monday-Thursday 5-11pm, Friday-Saturday 5pm-midnight, and Sunday 5-10pm. They also have a takeout menu, which looks like they’re also offering delivery — call 718-499-0020 for more info.
Anyone have a chance to stop by yet? What did you think?
