Things To Do In Celebration Of National Dog Day: How Will You Treat Your Pup?

It often seems like there’s a holiday for every conceivable celebration, from honoring our moms and dads to our grandparents and secretaries. So it probably won’t surprise that this Wednesday, August 26, marks National Dog Day.

What are you and your pooch doing, if anything, to mark the occasion? Taking your dog out to eat with you at a local restaurant? An extra visit to Fort Greene Park for playtime? Some new toys from Who’s Your Doggy?

Let us know by emailing us at editor@bklyner.com! Feel free to include a photo and “quote” from him or her in answer to the question:

  • What’s your favorite thing about being a dog in Fort Greene-Clinton Hill?

If you’re looking for ideas, then check out the following local events/deals:

  • Nothing says love like ensuring your loved one’s health, so stop by Heart of Brooklyn Veterinary for a pet physical — it’s half off for August, too! — between Wednesday, August 26 and Tuesday, September 1 and be entered in a raffle for a mystery prize! (There’ll also be toys, treats, and goody bags on-site.)
  • Who’s Your Doggy (Adelphi and Willoughby Avenues) is offering big sales all day, plus fun photo booths! There’s also an ongoing celebration of Team Tiny’s only rescue dog still not adopted, Harlow, a sweet pit brought to them by the NYPD.
