How Often Are You Delayed On The B Train?

A recently-released report by the Straphangers Campaign found the number of B subway delays rose 42% from the first 10 months of 2011 the first 10 months of 2012. While delays on the Q only rose by 4%, the incredible increase in B problems made it the second worst train in terms of delays (the first being the L, with a 60% increase in delays during the same period).

The Straphangers Campaign analyzed the number of electronic alerts the MTA sent to subscribers of their Email and Text Message Alert System, which notifies riders of delays expected to last at least 8-10 minutes, using only “controllable delays” (i.e. signal, track, and switch problems) to determine the results of the study.

Though delays on the B were shown to have risen a huge amount, nearly half of delays on all subway lines in the first 10 months of 2012 (1,219 out of 2,669) were in Manhattan.

So B riders, have you noticed a major increase in delays? And if so, do they tend to be in Manhattan, Brooklyn, or the Bronx?
