Nearly 20 years after losing two family members to a hit-and-run driver, the Mcleer family of Staten Island is again facing the horrific reality of reckless, irresponsible drivers snaking through Brooklyn streets. The family’s 1

4-year-old son, Jackson Mcleer, was recently struck on 86th Street, an incident that sent him to the hospital. NY1 is reporting that Jackson’s father, Adam, is calling on the driver to come out of hiding and take responsibility for their action.

In 1994, Adam Mcleer’s mother and 4-year-old sister were killed in a hit-and-run incident, an event that still haunts the family:

Back in 1994, Adam Mcleer’s mother, Donna, and 4-year-old sister, Michele, were killed by a truck in the same neighborhood on 92nd Street.
The driver was never found.
“I wake up every day and my mother and sister are gone in the most horrific way you could ever imagine to anybody, that your mother gets taken away and your 4-year-old sister,” Adam Mcleer said. “Now, all of a sudden, again, it’s happening to our family, and it’s really tearing us apart.”

The latest incident that befell the family occurred last Wednesday, when Jackson was struck at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and 86th Street after coming home from football practice.

“The mirror hit my chest,” Jackson told NY1. “I bounced off the car, blacked out for two or three seconds, got back up, walked over to the sidewalk. I forgot who laid me down, and I called my father.”

The car that struck Jackson was described as a four-door dark blue or black and didn’t stop after the incident. Jackson suffered a cracked rib and fluid around his liver. The whole incident has left Jackson’s father outraged, urging the driver or anyone who might know the person to come forward with any information.

“My message is stop being a turkey, man, and turn yourself in, because that’s the right thing to do as a man or as a woman,” Mcleer told NY1.
