Last night, the Brooklyn Navy Yard was home to history as Hillary Clinton declared herself the first female major party nominee.

Clinton held a rally at the Duggal Greenhouse (Building 268, 63 Flushing Avenue) at the Brooklyn Navy Yard on June 7 as results rolled in from primaries in California, New Jersey, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, and New Mexico.

“Tonight caps an amazing journey — a long, long journey,” said Clinton according to the New York Times.

The Associated Press reported that Clinton clinched the Democratic nomination on June 6.

Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT) has said that he will continue to fight until the Democratic convention next month, according to CNN.

“We believe that cooperation is better than conflict, unity is better division, empowerment is better than resentment and bridges are better than walls.” ??#historymade #imwithher #hillary2016

The Navy Yard was the home to a primary debate between Clinton and Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT) back in April, during the run up to the New York primary. For a few weeks, Brooklyn was home to non-stop campaign stops by major party candidates on the campaign trail. Unfortunately, primary election day led to serious issues at the polls in Brooklyn and elsewhere.
