High School Students Invited To Join Councilman Jumaane Williams’ Youth Council, Which Meets Tomorrow, September 12

Councilman Jumaane Williams is inviting all high school students in his district (which includes Ditmas Park, Flatbush, and Midwood) to participate in his Students Taking Action Today (S.T.A.T.) youth task council, which will meet tomorrow, September 12, from 4-5pm. The gathering will be held at Williams’ district office, located at 4517 Avenue D.

Members of the council, which Williams founded in 2012, work with the legislator and his office on a variety of activities in their communities, including planning the Pre-Labor Day senior concert, a youth empowerment summit, a youth/senior holiday party, a back-to-school supply drive, a Thanksgiving turkey giveaway, an anti-violence march, and more.

“S.T.A.T. officers and members also coordinate workshops for youth focusing on bullying/cyber bullying, conflict resolution, crime prevention, ‘know your rights’ training and gun/gang violence,” Williams’ office said in a press release. “In addition to workshops and regular meetings with Council Member Williams, S.T.A.T. members meet with other local, state and federal elected officials, advocacy groups, business owners, media and music industry professionals.”
