The firefighter who rescued a 2-year-old boy from a raging house fire in Marine Park will be given a “Hero of the Month” award this afternoon by Borough President Eric Adams.

In August, FDNY Lieutenant Victor Milukas of Ladder 159 in Flatlands climbed into the burning home, smashing through the second floor window, to pull out the “lifeless infant” inside. The boy, Chase Pierre, was rushed to a local hospital, where he was put into a medically induced coma so that his lungs could heal from smoke inhalation.

Milukas will be declared “Hero of the Month” for August in honor of his courage, Adams announced in a press release. The Borough President also plans to give the “Hero of the Month” award for September to the volunteer members of Borough Park-based Yad Ephraim, who distributed more than 3,000 free meals to patients in local hospitals last month, according to Adam’s press release.

The ceremony will take place at 3pm at Brooklyn Borough Hall.

Adams continually recognizes extraordinary Brooklynites with the Hero of the Month award.
