Here’s The Upcoming Community Board 2 Meeting Schedule For Fall 2015
Summer’s almost over, which means school and meetings for many civic organizations are almost back in session. Amongst those kicking off a new year is Brooklyn Community Board 2 (CB 2), which returns Wednesday, September 9 for their 6pm General Meeting, to be held at Ryerson Tower (309 Lafayette Avenue, at St. James Place).
The other general meeting dates for fall are as follows, all at 6pm:
- Wednesday, October 14 – Brooklyn Hospital, 121 DeKalb Avenue at St. Felix Street
- Tuesday, November 10 – Brooklyn Law School, 250 Joralemon Street
- Wednesday, December 9 – NYU Polytechnic School, 5 Metrotech Center
CB 2 has actually been pretty busy this summer, with committee meetings and an extended spring meeting schedule keeping things lively and moving along. A lot of those discussions will be referenced again when general meetings resume next week.
In case you need a refresher, Community Boards are the equivalent of local town councils, staffed with volunteer representatives — including youth! — from around the community who serve as liaisons between the neighborhood and city officials. Residents can bring up questions and concerns. The board can make recommendations about things like traffic changes and liquor licenses, and advocate on behalf of local causes and issues, although they don’t have formal legal input on such matters. However, city agencies do seek CBs for support because it makes their projects easier to move forward with.
