Help Make This Year’s PS 11 Readathon The Most Successful Yet

Want to help support the hard working staff and over 800 students at Clinton Hill’s PS 11 Purvis J. Behan? The school (419 Waverly Avenue between Greene and Gates Avenues) is wrapping up its 2014 benefit Readathon this Friday, November 14, and could use your assistance.

“We’re currently soliciting sponsors to assist the 40 homeless families in our school,” says a note from the PS 11 PTA, “who are facing dire financial hardships and are thus not able to contribute to the fundraiser financially, but who still have a vested interest in helping the Readathon succeed.”

Neighbors who are able to donate in honor of these families will be contributing to the valuable partnership between PS 11 (which was one of only two Brooklyn educational institutions to win a Blue Ribbon School award this year) and creative recreation organization Playworks. Last year, the Readathon raised $13,000–but this year, the school is aiming for even more.

All donations are tax deductible. If a donation to PS 11’s Readathon is manageable and of interest to you, you may contribute here.
