It’s every Brooklynite’s worst nightmare: a wallet lost, only to find its way into the hands of a would-be credit card thief.

On April 2, at around 8:15pm, a 23-year-old woman left her wallet on a bench at the Nevins Street subway stop, according to cops. The suspect picked up her wallet and, rather than dropping it at the lost and found or contacting the owner, decided to go on a shopping spree at a nearby location.

The suspect is described as as a male, black, 20 to 30 years old, 5 foot 9 inches to 6 feet, 180 pounds to 200 pounds; last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants, a red shirt and he carried an orange plastic bag, according to the NYPD.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers Website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577. All calls are strictly confidential.
