Help Reunite Dog Lost In Canarsie With Her Family

CANARSIE – “Our dog is missing, we need Brooklyn’s help!” Meredith, a Manhattan resident, tells BKLYNER.

Meredith and her fiancé went to visit family out of state for the holidays and entrusted their one-year-old Shih Tzu/Maltese mix, Lily, in the care of her usual dog-walker. The walker was familiar with Lily and had been regularly walking the nine-pound pup for approximately six months in Meredith’s Manhattan neighborhood.

“Just one day after leaving, I received an urgent message that she lost Lily and two other dogs while walking them,” Meredith writes. The three dogs got loose in the vicinity of E84th Street and Flatlands Avenue on Saturday, December 23.

Meredith says she immediately flew home the next morning and has spent the past ten days searching for her beloved dog. The other two dogs that went missing—one was the walker’s—have since been found. The dog-walker’s pet returned safely home on its own and the other pooch was found at a shelter.

Lily still has not been located and Meredith fears that due to her pup’s sweet nature, she may have been taken in by someone unwilling to return her.

Meredith says she has “posted hundreds of flyers and large signs in the area” and is offering a $3,500 reward for Lily’s safe return. She has contacted “basically every vet, groomer, hospital, shelter in Brooklyn” as well as the Department of Sanitation to inquire if they’ve found any deceased dogs matching Lily’s description. She’s even enlisted the help of a pet detective to find her pet.

She concludes stating that she and her fiancé are “completely devastated but trying to be as proactive as possible, while our family member is missing.”

On November 30 another dog, Teddy, went missing for 11 days in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens while out with a dog-walker. Hopefully, with the help of the Brooklyn community, Lily will be successfully found as well.

Keep a look out for Lily and help get her home!
