Help Keep Park Slope Beautiful At This Weekend’s Spring Civic Sweep
It’s time to take your spring cleaning to the streets! Join the Park Slope Civic Council this Sunday, April 26 from 10am to 2pm for the Spring Civic Sweep, the neighborhood’s beautification, recycling, and clean-up event.
After meeting in front of the JJ Byrne Playground/Old Stone House (5th Avenue between 3rd and 4th Streets), volunteers will spread throughout town to help in weeding and mulching street trees; picking up litter; and painting out graffiti on lampposts (with adult supervision). There will also be an opportunity to donate unwanted electronics (just not microwaves, air conditioners, refrigerators, or smoke/carbon monoxide detectors) to the Lower East Side Ecology Center.
Plus, learn about and sign up for the 2015 street tree census, and take home plants for your front yards and street tree pits!
The Civic Council will provide refreshments and all necessary tools and supplies. There will also be live music from Brooklyn Social, and on top of everything else, volunteers will leave with some sweet “I Made Park Slope Cleaner Today” stickers. Sounds great!
