Help Care for Trees Along Campus Road

Campus Road Trees is hosting a second day of tree care on Saturday, July 28 from 10-3pm. In addition to helping the trees and sprucing up the tree pits, there will be children’s activities throughout the day:

10am-12pm: Kids Activities
• Planting from seed, cutting, and seedling into recyclable containers (bring your own or use theirs). Organic, locally produced soil and containers will be provided.
• Leaf rubbings for making tree decorations.

10am-12pm: Tree Bed Improvements
• Flower planting in one tree bed to compete in Million Trees My Trees NYC Contest, or amend tree beds with compost courtesy of The NYC Compost Project.

12:15-3pm: The Million Trees StewWagon
• The SteWagon will be on hand full of tools, mulch, and a knowledgeable NYC Parks employee to help with the efforts. They need at least 10 people to help for these few, precious hours.

Assorted information on caring for street trees, tree activity coloring books for children, info on how to start your own tree care action elsewhere will be available. Healthy snacks, greens from the Brooklyn College Garden, cold water, and homemade juice will also be available all day long.

Please bring a pair of garden gloves if you have them. If your time is flexible, they would love it if you could arrive at 12:15pm to be ready for the StewWagon.

Please RSVP to campusroadtrees@gmail.com or call Victoria at 917-861-9592.
