Celebrate summer with the annual Make Music New York festival. Thousands of concerts are happening live all over the city today, including at two locations in the neighborhood–the Cortelyou Library plaza and Newkirk Plaza.

The lineups are below, but there are still some slots available. If you’re around and interested in playing, give Laura from the FDC a call at 917-459-8191. And let us know if you do, so we can help get the word out!

Newkirk Plaza


12-1pm: Jason Walker
This local legend’s most recent performances include sharing the stage with Mick Jagger, Bono, Macy Gray, Lou Reed, and Dr. John. Jason is joined by Jeremy Brown (violin), Fred Cash (bass), and Bendjie Allonce (percussion).

1-5pm: OPEN MIC

5-5:30pm: Out of System Transfer
Four members for this show: Jesse Sternberg on acoustic guitar and lead vocals, Danielle Kolker on ukulele, clarinet, foot percussion and backing vocals, Jesse Jacobsen on bass and mandolin, and Jon Good on trombone and backing vocals.

6-7pm: CanKoone
He will perform to track with back-up singer and a hype person performing.

12:30-1:30pm: JAM
Jason Yeager – keyboard, Andrew Mulherkar – tenor sax, Matt Rousseau – drums JAZZ

2-2:30pm: PS 139 Grade 4 Band
Performing in the Rugby Road playground.

3-4pm: Phil Kennelty
Folk.
