Happy Birthday, Hawk Chicks!
Birthday/birth week celebrations are in order for two new red-tailed hawk chicks that have hatched in their nest atop a 75-foot-tall light stanchion at Long Island University’s Brooklyn campus!
The fluffy white chicks are as adorable as one would expect and are being cared for and fed by their parents, which have called the spot home for at least the past two months, according to human neighbors and bird watchers Gerri Hernández and Belinda Gonzalez.
As mentioned last month, the winged pair are perched so high they are likely oblivious to a riot of athletic activity below on LIU’s 2-1/2 acre field.
