Emergency responders are swarming around a four-story residential building on Ocean Avenue, between Avenue Y and Avenue Z, after a fire broke out there this afternoon.

More than 50 firefighters responded to the building, located at 2950 Ocean Avenue, at 2:18pm, according to the Fire Department. There were no injuries reported and the fire is nearly under control, the FDNY reports.

A reader, who sent us a photo of police blocking off the intersection at Avenue Y and a ladder extending up to the building’s roof, said traffic is snarled around the first responders at the scene.

The FDNY did not immediately have information about what caused the fire or where in the building it is located.

Update [April 6, 10:30am]: The FDNY tells us they have still not determined the cause of the fire. There were no injuries reported.
