Gun Shots Fired On Dorchester On Sunday

The seeming upswing of local crime this weekend didn’t stop at theft. A neighbor on the west end of Dorchester had a scary experience this past Sunday, June 9. She says:

I didn’t see anything, I only heard the gun shots. It was around 3:00 pm. I was in my 1st floor living room. I heard one loud bang – sounded louder than other gun shots I’d heard before.
It got my attention, then a minute or so later, I heard 2 more loud bangs. I thought I heard someone yell something. I looked out the window and just saw neighbors looking around talking to each other.
I went outside and talked to a few people. I saw a young neighbor boy who was very upset. He spotted a bullet casing right in front of his house. I told him not to touch it and went inside to call the police.
I probably called them 10 minutes after it happened and someone had already called about it. I’d say the police arrived 5 minutes after I called, which is maybe 15 minutes after the shooting. They asked all the people standing around for info, they asked me, and another person who had called 911, what they had seen.
About 4 police cars showed up. Two officers stayed around the area for about an hour. They looked around on the ground and I showed them the bullet casing. They said they were waiting to see if anyone showed up at a hospital with a gun shot wound.

The shooting happened between Stratford and Westminster Rds. in Ditmas Park West, where the neighborhood yard sale was still going on, and we assume a number of people were outside nearby. We have reached out to the 70th Precinct, and will update when we have more information.
