Guide to Grilled Cheese in Ditmas Park

Turns out April is National Grilled Cheese Month, and since we’re running out of time, you better enjoy it while you can this week. If you’re looking for a place to celebrate this “holiday,” here are a few local spots:

The Castello Plan: After 11pm, in addition to their regular dinner menu, they’ve got a whole grilled cheese menu, which features add-ons like chorizo, mushrooms, and eggs. If you can’t stay up that late, they also serve a grilled cheese for brunch.

The Farm on Adderley: The adult grilled cheese has apples and caramelized onions, but you can only get it during the day or at brunch on the weekend. Kids can order a straight-up grilled cheese sandwich anytime, though.

Picket Fence: The cheddar and sourdough sandwich is one of the best deals on the menu, but it’s only available for lunch and brunch.

Salud: They have a grilled soy cheese sandwich with avocado and sprouts, and though it’s not your traditional grilled cheese–it’s more like a warm cheese sandwich–it’s still tasty.

• Our diners don’t get a lot of praise, but it’s hard to get a such a diner staple wrong. Try Pablo’s during the day, and George’s for those overnight cravings.

• Quesadillas count, right? If so, check out the many versions at El Acquario on Church or Don Burrito on Newkirk Plaza.
