Local Farmers Markets Returning In May
Good news, hungry neighbors! Our nearby farmers markets will be back providing fresh produce for our area in the weeks ahead.
On Wednesdays from May 7 until November 26, the Greenmarket will be back at Bartel-Pritchard Square from 8am-3pm. Then on Sundays from May 11 to December 21, a Greenmarket will be held at PS 154 (11th Avenue between Sherman Street and Windsor Place) from 9am-3pm.
Both markets will feature yummy fruit and vegetables, bread, seafood, and more from nearby farmers, and the PS 154 Greenmarket will also offer compost collection from 9am-1pm and textile and rechargeable battery recycling from 9am-2:30pm. To keep up with the latest on local Greenmarkets, visit GrowNYC.
Then closer to home, look out for the opening of the PS 295 Farmers Market, which is scheduled to return on Thursdays from 2:30-4:30pm on May 22 at the school’s yard on 19th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues. It’s run by a teacher, a few volunteer parents, and some awesome third graders, and they’ve got excellent produce — some of which they grow themselves — so be sure to check it out!
