Golden Battling Graffiti Again
Marty Golden, crusader against graffiti, made arrangements to have a Graffiti-Free NYC truck hose down some commercial walls on 18th Avenue. The Brooklyn Daily Eagle is reporting that Golden also promised a reward for anyone who provides police with information that leads to an arrest of a graffiti artist.
Golden, who picked up a hose himself to spray down some tagged walls, came down strong on graffiti vandals in a series of statements.
“We’re sending a message. We’re out here; we’re going to clean it up. If you do graffiti, we’re going to arrest you,” Golden said. “As for graffiti vandals, they’re not artists. They are destroying the character of the neighborhood. But we haven’t given up on our quality of life. Some great work will be done of this avenue today.”
Putting his money where his mouth is, Golden personally put up a $250 reward for anyone who can provide police with information that leads to a graffiti arrest.
Graffiti-Free NYC, managed by the mayor’s office, represents a city wide effort to rid communities of graffiti.
