Go Green This Weekend With Events At The Flatbush Food Coop

This coming weekend, the Flatbush Food Coop (1415 Cortelyou Road between Rugby and Marlborough Roads) will be hosting two full days of eco-friendly events that’ll help neighbors with spring cleaning, too. Here’s what’s on the schedule:

CAMBA Spring Food Drive Drop-off
Saturday, April 26 from 11am-2pm
Representatives of CAMBA will collect items to support their emergency food pantry, which aids more than 3,400 Brooklyn residents each month.

E-Waste Recycling
Sunday, April 27 from 10am-4pm
Drop off your unwanted or broken electronics for environmentally safe disposal. Accepting working and non-working computers, monitors, printers, scanners, keyboards, mice, cables, TVs, VCRs, DVD players, phones, audio/visual equipment, cell phones and PDAs.

Unfortunately, home appliances including microwaves, refrigerators, air conditioners, and ionization smoke or carbon monoxide detectors will not be accepted. You can learn how to properly dispose of those devices, and answers to FAQs, here.

Shredzilla Document Shredding
Sunday, April 27 from 11am-3pm
The Shredzilla document shredding truck will be on hand to provide secure recycling of confidential papers. There is a suggested donation of $5 per bag of documents to be shredded.

Spring Plant Swap
Sunday, April 27 from 12pm-3pm
Give and receive house and garden plants and share gardening tips. Everyone who attends will receive a plant while supplies last.

There you have it–clear out some space in your pantry, shred all those tax forms you screwed up, responsibly dispose of that computer you smashed on the floor when you finally decided to use TurboTax and your return wasn’t what you’d hoped, and pick up some plants that are proven to calm you down.
