Get Your Oktoberfest On at South and Der Kommissar This Weekend
Fans of beer and tubed meat rejoice, for the time is nigh to get your Oktoberfest celebrations on. Not sure where to start? Your good friends at South Slope News are here to help.
Paul Molnar from South, located on 5th Avenue between 17th and 18th Streets, dropped us a line with the details of their weekend-long extravaganza.
We will be celebrating Oktoberfest Sat and Sun. We will have German sausages from Schaller and Weber, and two house made sausages, pickled vegetables from 2-7. Sun will be the mug holding contest. Both men and women are welcome to participate in this tradition. Contestants stand with a full liter mug outstretched at arms length @ 90 degrees. The longest time wins. Come on out!
Need more than one weekend of beer-fueled revelry? Check out Der Kommissar, located on 5th Avenue between 15th and 16th Streets, all week for $10 lunch specials until 5pm, chances to win free beer (yes, please) and giant beer mugs. Best of all, two lucky Der Kommissarians will be crowned king and queen on Sunday, October 7.
Start practicing those royal waves now, South Slope.
