Get IDNYC Now At New Utrecht Library Pop-Up

IDNYC, the city’s newly implemented municipal identification system, is now available at our own New Utrecht Library (1743 86th Street).

The temporary pop-up station opened October 20 and will be available on Tuesday, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays through November 20. Appointments can be made at the IDNYC website.

Residents ages 14 and up from all five boroughs are eligible apply for the ID card that will allow them to open bank accounts; access all city buildings; receive discounts on prescriptions; land free one-year memberships at museums, concert halls, and zoos; and more. A list of required documents to prove residency/identification can be found here.

Legislators say the new program will help to break down barriers for residents who have previously had problems accessing city institutions because of a lack of ID, including undocumented immigrants and individuals who are homeless. The IDNYC card will also be accepted as valid primary identification for opening bank or credit union accounts at more than 10 financial institutions.
