Get Into The Festive Spirit At Holiday Happenings In The Neighborhood This Weekend
From holiday treats for dogs in Prospect Park to a tree decorating party at Compost for Brooklyn, there is much festivity happening around us this weekend!
- FIDO’s Bark! The Herald Angels Sing party will be held Saturday, December 13 from 8-10am in Prospect Park’s Long Meadow, beside the Picnic House. You’ll be able to let your dog run around without a leash until 10am in the immediate vicinity of the event. There will be song, coffee, hot chocolate, and mulled cider – plus Santa will hand out chew bones and treats! Deck your dogs in festive attire and gather around for a holiday sing-a-long of your holiday favorites. Fido will provide songbooks with dog-centric lyrics.
- Join Compost for Brooklyn for their Trim-a-Tree winter event on Saturday, December 13 from 11am-2pm at the corner of E. 8th Street and Newkirk Avenue. Families, children and neighbors welcome for this free event (though donations are always welcome). During the event, you can learn how to decorate the trees with treats to help feed the hungry birds, such as garlands of popcorn and cranberries.
- Help out women and children in shelters and donate new or gently used car seats, strollers and more at the Friends of Greenwood Playground‘s holiday drive at Cynthia King Dance Studio (1256 Prospect Avenue between Greenwood Avenue and Reeve Place) on Sunday, December 14 from 9am-12pm. See more info here.
- Gabby, the manager for the Windsor Terrace Greenmarket, let us know the market will be closing for the season after Sunday, December 21, which means you have just a couple weeks left to buy holiday gifts there and stock up on winter goodies, like apples, baked goods, squash, and cheese from area farmers. See more info here.
