Get Groovy & Spooky October 26 At Brooklyn Music School’s Musical Haunted House
Want to get Halloween started early with a fiendishly good time? Join the Brooklyn Music School (126 Saint Felix Street between Lafayette Avenue and Hanson Place) on Sunday, October 26 for their second annual Musical Haunted House!
The 2-4pm event will include A Knife at the Opera (a selection of tunes “from opera’s greatest doomed characters”), songs by Swinging Skeletons (music and poltergeist-y fun featuring the BMS Jazz Ensemble), and, of course, an homage to “Thriller”–plus headlining act Hellvis (look forward to hits like “All Burned Up” and “Heartburn Hotel”) and a visit from ZomBeethoven, who will be playing his Tenth Symphony.
“Some have called the Tenth Symphony the ‘nail in the coffin’ of Beethoven’s greatness,” says Piruz Partow, Brooklyn Music School’s artistic executive director. “Yet it remains rarely mentioned by musical scholars, since no one has been able to listen to the entire piece and survive.”
Brooklyn Music School will also be giving out goodies, prizes, and haunted tours of their century-old schoolhouse. Tickets for the event are $5 for all ages–so reserve your spot here, and prepare to face what goes bump in the night!
