Get A Music Matchmaker With Fort Greene Entrepreneur’s “A Song A Day” Service
Online music subscription and radio services are popular because while everyone loves music, not everyone has the time or taste to curate their own play lists or to stay on top of the changing music scene. Enter “A Song A Day,” a free service that pairs you with a music matchmaker — an actual human curator — who sends you a different song every day according to your stated musical preferences.
Founded earlier this month by Fort Greene resident Shannon Byrne, 27, the subscription service already has 44 curators and over 3,000 subscribers from around the world and is on its way to expanding if Byrne’s Kickstarter campaign gets funded.
“Right now our matching process consists of me sitting down and listening to all the subscribers’ preferences,” she told Bedford & Bowery. Raising funds would allow her expand via creating software to tag user preferences and make the feedback process more streamlined.
Thus far, the venture has raised half of its $25,000 goal, and it only has less than two days left. Pledge rewards include custom playlists, signed posters and vinyl records, and concert tickets.
Happy listening!
