FYI: On The Agenda For Wednesday’s CB2 Meeting
Community Board 2’s October general meeting will be taking place tomorrow (Wednesday, October 14) in Brooklyn Hospital’s North Pavilion, in the third floor auditorium at 121 DeKalb Avenue. If you’ve never been to a community board meeting, know that they are great opportunities to learn more about what’s going on in the neighborhood and to ask questions during the “Public Comment” period, which you have to sign up on a sheet for.
Here’s the agenda in case something piques your interest:
- There will be a short presentation about the services provided by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and the Brooklyn office of NYC Business Solutions.
- Then Harrison Silver, with New York Road Runners, will speak about Open Run, free weekly runs/walks open to people of all ages and pages. In Brooklyn Community District 2, Open Run events are held at 7:00 pm on Thursdays in Brooklyn Bridge Park.
- The Land Use Committee will present their recommendation in support of a special permit to allow a “physical culture establishment” (gym) at 186 Montague Street.
- The Transportation and Public Safety Committee will present their recommendation to endorse a sculpture by Hank Willis Thomas, the public art component of the Brooklyn Bridge Gateway Project.
They will also talk about recommending CB2 support for the co-naming Putnam Avenue, between Grand Avenue and Downing Street, in honor of Cecil A. Collymore.
