FYI: Don’t Park Around BAM After 10PM Tonight; A Film Shoot Is Coming
Don’t park your cars in the vicinity of Ashland Place, Hanson Place, and nearby stretches of Lafayette Avenue and Fulton Street after 10pm tonight, through tomorrow.
Film shoot flyers have gone up in the area, noting that tomorrow, Tuesday, June 2, will be a film shoot day for the second season of “The Affair,” a Showtime series starring Ruth Wilson, Dominic West, and Maura Tierney. Affected streets are as follows:
- Ashland Place (east side) between Hanson Place and Lafayette Avenue
- Ashland Place between Fulton Street and Lafayette Avenue
- St. Felix Street (east side) between Hanson Place and Lafayette Avenue
- Lafayette Avenue (north side) between Rockwell Place and St. Felix Street
- Rockwell Place between Fulton Street and Lafayette Avenue, on the half-block closer to Lafayette
- Lafayette Avenue (south side) between Fort Greene Place and South Portland Avenue
If any of our cars are out there, they will be towed at our expense, warn the flyers.
There seems to be an uptick in film shoots in the Fort Greene/BAM/Brooklyn Cultural District area lately, perhaps because of the warmer weather.
Just this past Saturday, resident Mark Gimein noticed that “four whole blocks (both sides) [were] closed off for a film shoot — more than I’ve ever seen set aside for a shoot” — along a block of Carlton, a block of Adelphi, and two blocks of DeKalb Avenue.
What do you think? Have you noticed more film shoots in the area? How does it impact you?
