Fun Upcoming Classes & Activities For Kids In Ditmas Park

School isn’t the only place for kids to learn–coming up around the neighborhood, we’ve also got craft and music classes, yoga with a twist, and even an interactive theater production by one of Ditmas Park’s very own.

Music with Mrs. Christine

Where: Honeydew Drop Playhouse, 1113 Church Avenue between Stratford and Westminster Roads
What: Kids can dance, sing, and play with instruments, followed by free play on Honeydew Drop’s indoor jungle gym.

Sparkle the Fairy Princess
When: Monday, April 14 at 10:30am
Where: Flatbush-Tompkins Congregational Church, 424 E 19th Street at Dorchester Road
What: Local mom Angela Sbano created this interactive musical for kids two to seven and their caregivers, which centers around a princess saving a prince for once and includes educational elements as well as classical singing and well-known opera melodies for parents to enjoy. It’s been recently revamped, so even neighbors who have seen the show before will be surprised. Dressing up is encouraged!
How much: $10 for kids two and up, $7.50 per sibling, accompanying adults and babies get in free

From Junk to Jewels
When: Sunday, April 27 at 3:30pm
Where: Brooklyn ARTery, 1021 Cortelyou Road between Stratford Road and Coney Island Avenue
What: Not sure about your teen, but my bedroom floor during middle and high school was an equal opportunity space for just about anything to get lost or stepped on–especially my favorite jewelry and other accessories. From Junk to Jewels will teach kids 14-18 (and adults, like me, who still can’t quite get it together) simple methods for repurposing those broken chains and lonely earrings into one of a kind necklaces and more.
How much: $40, register here

Kids Yoga with Jen
When: Mondays April 28, May 5, May 12, and May 19 at 10:30am
Where: Lark, 1007 Church Avenue between E 10th Street and Stratford Road
What: Jen of Karma Kids Yoga will teach local littl’uns (ages two to six with a caregiver) to enjoy traditional positions of the practice, as well as some Italian! If your child is interested in movement or just in how to better describe his lasagna, this class could be a lot of fun.
How much: $15 per drop in
