Friday Crime Blotter: Attempted Burglary in East Flatbush, A Shooting in Sheepshead Bay & More

SHEEPSHEAD BAY – Police are looking for a suspect who shot another man outside a Sheepshead Bay mini mart earlier this week.

The shooting took place around 11:00 pm on Tuesday, October 16, in front of the Nostrand Mini Mart at 3600 Nostrand Avenue, at Avenue W. The suspect fired one shot at the 24-year old victim, striking him in the right forearm, said police.

The victim was treated and released from Coney Island Hospital. The shooter was caught on surveillance video, but was wearing a ski-mask and a hooded jacket:


PROSPECT LEFFERTS GARDENS – Police are still searching for the man who assaulted a victim, unprovoked, in a PLG subway station

The attack took place at the Winthrop 2/5 station on Monday, October 8, around 6:30 pm. A 47-year-old man was punched in the jaw by an unidentified subject who then fled the station on foot, said police.

The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital with a fractured jaw, said police. A surveillance photo of the suspect can be seen below:

PROSPECT HEIGHTS – Police are looking for the man who snatched a cell phone from a child in the Atlantic-Barclay’s station earlier this month.

Around 1:45 pm on Sunday, October 7, the suspect snuck up on an 11-year-old boy as he prepared to enter a train, snatching the child’s cell phone from his hands, said police. The suspect then fled in an unknown direction.

EAST FLATBUSH – After a man foiled an attempted burglary at his East Flatbush home, police are looking for the two men who were trying to get into his house.

Around 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 9, the man confronted two suspects in his backyard, near Avenue H and Albany Avenue. One was climbing a ladder, while the other was standing at the rear of his residence, police said. When challenged, the men said they were “conducting an investigation,” flashing a badge before fleeing in a white sedan.

SHEEPSHEAD BAY – Finally, police are trying to track down a man wanted in a case of forcible touching from Sheepshead Bay at the end of last month.

On the night of Thursday, September 27, around 11:00 pm, the suspect followed a 29-year-old woman along the sidewalk as she walked home near Avenue Y and East 14 Street, police said. The man tried to engage the victim in conversation, and when she rebuffed him, he grabbed her buttocks and fled, police said.
