Friday Crime Blotter: Double Trouble on the Q Train, New Info in Williamsburg Hate-Crime & More

SHEEPSHEAD BAY – Police are looking for a man wanted in connection with an assault and attempted robbery of a boy on the Q train earlier this week.

The incident took place around 3:00 pm on Monday, November 26, on a southbound Q train headed from Sheepshead Bay to Brighton Beach station, said police. A man began to verbally harass a 14-year-old boy and attempted to take the victim’s cell phone.

When the boy resisted, the man struck him in the face, then fled the train at Brighton Beach station, said police. The victim refused medical attention at the scene.

WILLIAMSBURG – Police have released video surveillance of the suspect wanted in the assault of a 9-year-old Jewish boy last weekend in Williamsburg.

Police received reports that the suspect approached the victim near Walton Street and Throop Avenue on Sunday, November 25, around 6:00 pm, and punched the child several times in the face before fleeing. The official police report corrects the previously-reported age of the victim.

The Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident. Surveillance video can be seen below:

MIDWOOD – After a slashing on the Q train in Midwood, police are asking for the public’s help in apprehending a suspect.

The incident took place on Friday, November 23, as the northbound Q train was approaching the Avenue M station around 4:00 am, police said. The suspect approached two male victims, 47 and 30 years old, and demanded their property while brandishing a box cutter.

Slashing both men about the head, arms and torso, the attacker stole construction tools, cellphones and cash from one of the victims, police said. EMS transported both men to Maimonides Hospital where they were treated for their injuries.
