Welcome Spring By Taking Home A Free Tree!
Nothing says springtime like new green shoots sprouting from the ground and leaves on trees. That’s why you should register to pick up a free tree at one of 18 locations in Brooklyn this March through mid-May!
Courtesy of the New York Restoration Project (NYRP) and the city’s MillionTreesNYC program, the tree giveaway includes popular tree varieties such as dogwoods, juneberries and peach trees — around 8,750 of them available for your yards, gardens or commercial property.
So help maintain the green in Southwest Brooklyn and Coney Island, where we have three pickup locations coming up nearby:
- Saturday, March 21 from 11am-1pm at 2925 Neptune Avenue
Hosted by the Friends of Kaiser Park and the office of Councilmember Mark Treyger - Sunday, March 22 from 10am-12pm at 1702 Mermaid Avenue.
Hosted by Brooklyn Community Services
A full list of giveaway sites can be found at http://www.nyrp.org/treegiveaways and **REGISTRATION IS STRONGLY ADVISED** since only a “limited number” of trees will be available for walk-ins.
If this will be your first time caring for a tree, a NYRP representative will give you helpful tips, which includes:
- Keep trees properly watered and maintained, with access to clean air.
- Do not plant the tree along streets, in city parks, in containers, terraces, balconies or on roofs.
