Free Tickets Available For Tonight’s Performance Of ‘The Photo Album,’ An Interactive Theater Piece By Neighbor Lisa Reinke

Looking for something to do tonight? There are a handful of free tickets available for tonight’s 5:30pm performance of “The Photo Album,” an interactive theater piece set in one of our neighborhood’s Victorian homes – but it’s first come, first served – so email 14-3037@fringenyc.org if you want to try to nab one before they’re gone.

Directed by neighbor Lisa Reinke, the performance has been incredibly well received around the city and has been “re-imagined and revived” for Fringe NYC 2014, the largest multi-arts festival in North America.

In a previous interview with us, Lisa said:

The idea behind this show is that in remodeling a Ditmas Park Victorian house, a bunch of photos from past residents were found. Audience members must try to figure out the history of the house and the people who lived in it. To do so, they must download Layar on their Android or iOS device, and then scan the photos using that app.
This will cause several clues to pop up in augmented reality that will lead individual audience members on short scavenger hunts to find actors and release brief moments and memories trapped in the photos. People who don’t have smartphones can join up with friends or ask stagehands to scan photos for them.

Tonight’s 5:30pm performance will be held at the Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center’s Abrazo Interno Gallery, located at 107 Suffolk Street in Manhattan. If you can’t make it tonight, you can still buy tickets for shows this Friday at 2pm, Sunday at 4pm, next Monday at 9:30pm, and Saturday, August 23 at 4:45pm.
