Forty Years Of Murrow High School Graduates Reunite During Anniversary Bash
No, Marisa Tomei and Darren Aronofsky didn’t show up, but hundreds of other graduates, retired faculty and their families did.
Edward R. Murrow High School celebrated its 40th anniversary on Saturday with a massive open school and reunion, during which alumni, retirees and guests strolled down the high school’s hallways – and memory lane.
The bulk of alumni attendees at the event graduated in the 1980s, organizers said, but scores of recent graduates turned out as well to talk to their old teachers and catch up with one another. Many introduced their kids to bygone friends and flames, briefing each other on their lives since high school while the tots enjoyed face painting, chess games and robotics presentations run by current students.
The day also included shows in the school’s new planetarium, a freshly renovated space built using the same state-of-the-art systems that power the Museum of Natural History’s Hayden Planetarium.
City Councilman Mark Treyger, also a Murrow alum, spoke at the event, and presented Ellen Goldman a citation for her 20 years of service at the school as the principal’s secretary. Goldman served under all three of the school’s principals and retires in June.
Congratulations to Goldman, the school, and the extended Murrow family on their 40 years in our community!
