Fort Greene General Store Holding Thanksgiving Food Drive

“It’s better to give than to receive,” the old saying goes. This adage may be slightly less true when it comes to “receiving gifts” (see: buying yourself a little something nice) from the Fort Greene General Store–but luckily for you, the two don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

This week, the store (located at 218 Dekalb Avenue between Clermont and Adelphi) is asking neighbors to bring in their excess dry and canned goods on behalf of the NYC Child Development Support Corporation–a Clinton Hill organization that aims to assist single mothers, the elderly, and the homeless–to help them provide clients with hearty Thanksgiving meals. In particular, donations of gravy and stuffing are appreciated. In exchange for your donation, you’ll get 10% off at the store.

The food drive is being held until next Wednesday, November 11. Fort Greene General Store hours are 11am-8pm Tuesday through Saturday, and 11am-6pm on Sundays.
