Fort Greene-Clinton Hill Weekend Events Recap: Dance, Film & Live Music Through August 3

This weekend is looking like a bit of a dreary one, with lots of clouds and thunderstorms to come. We’re looking forward to curling up with a good book much of the time, but as these three events are–or can easily be moved–indoors, we think they’re still great “going out” options.

“Thread” Dance & Film Performance
When: Friday, August 1, 8pm
Where: Irondale Arts Center (85 South Oxford Street between Lafayette and Dekalb Avenues)
What: Body Art Dance takes over Irondale with a multi disciplinary piece that tells the sort of the Greek figure Ariadne, “a modern woman infused with the myths of the past.” If you can’t make it tonight, it’s also on tomorrow.
How much: $18 at above site, $20 at the door

Summer Night Short Film Fest Screening
When: Saturday, August 2, 7:30pm
Where: Trilok Fusion Center for Arts and Education (143 Waverly Avenue between Myrtle and Park Avenues)
What: Cities around the world are showing the Summer Night festival of short films. Watch and enjoy these free films alongside people from Portugal, Spain, and Russia. There are no political affiliations here; the event is simply for the sake of art.
How much: Free

Hot Club of Bushwick
When: Sunday, August 3, 7:30pm
Where: Splitty (415 Myrtle Avenue between Clinton and Vanderbilt Avenues)
What: Hot Club of Bushwick brings their “gypsy swing jazz” to Splitty’s backyard, plus neighbors are invited to bring their own instruments and jam out. Enjoy drinks, buns, and tunes.
How much: Free
