Fort Greene-Clinton Hill Events: New Year’s Eve Edition

This is going to be an extra-long list of events. Since most of this week’s events are New Year’s Eve-related, we’ll break things up into three sections: non-parties, parties, and food.

NON-PARTIES

Yule Log 2.0
When: Through Wednesday, December 31 from 1-10pm
Where: BRIC House at 647 Fulton Street
What: 70+ films by 80+ illustrators, animators, directors, and creative coders, bringing the traditional Yule Log into the digital age.
How much: Free

Movie At 2: “Single Mom’s Club”
When: Tuesday, December 30 from 2-4pm
Where: Clinton Hill Library at 380 Washington Avenue, at Lafayette Avenue
What: Tyler Perry’s The Single Moms Club rated PG-13.  Comedy – Drama, starring Nia Long, Wendi McLendon-Covey & Amy Smart

Learning Express Library/Career Cruising
When: Wednesday, December 31 from 2-3pm
Where: Walt Whitman Library at 93 Saint Edwards Street (between Myrtle and Park Avenues)
What: Get a head-start on the new year with interactive courses for academic preparation, civil service, licensure and certification practice exams, and employment searches.
How much: Free

Final Steam Whistle Blow for NYE
When: Wednesday, December 31 from 10pm-12:30am
Where: Pratt Institute, Main Campus at 200 Willoughby Avenue
What: Pratt Institute Chief Engineer Conrad Milster will blow his historic collection of steam whistles on New Year’s Eve for the final time, celebrating a 50-year tradition for members of the local Brooklyn community.
How much: Free

Holiday Jazz Vespers
When: Wednesday, December 31 from 7-8:30pm
Where: Emmanuel Baptist Church at 279 Lafayette Avenue
What: 3rd annual event. Featuring Antonio Hart and the Queens College Jazz Ensemble. RSVP at EbcConnects.com/jazzvespers.

PARTIES

Splitty Old-School NYE Party
When: Wednesday, December 31 from 9pm-4am
Where: Splitty at 415 Myrtle Avenue
What: All vinyl, all night with DJ Brian Sears. Free champagne toast at midnight. Drink specials all night.
How much: No cover

NYE Ball-Drop Party
When: Wednesday, December 31
Where: Brooklyn Eats on Myrtle at 474 Myrtle Avenue
What: Watch the ball drop over a game of ping pong and pinball, complete with cheap drinks and good food.
How much: No cover

NYE Party and Fundraiser
When: Wednesday, December 31 from 8pm onwards
Where: The Great Georgiana at 248 DeKalb Avenue
What: “No cover, no pre-fixe, no fuss,” plus a DJ and a final-push fundraiser for the film “Syl Johnson: Any Way The Wind Blows.”
How much: Free

Gemini & Scorpio’s Court of the Snow Queen
When: Wednesday, December 31 at 9pm
Where: Irondale Center at 85 South Oxford Street
What: Themed costumes/formal theatrical party with entertainment from the Love Show dancers, Retro Remix Orchestra, burlesque dancers and more.
How much: $40–$90 tickets

NYE Party
When: Wednesday, December 31
Where: Brooklyn Tap House at 590 Myrtle Avenue
What: Live music, plenty of drinks, limited food.
How much: No cover

FOOD

NYE Peking Duck Bash
When: Wednesday, December 31
Where: Martha Brooklyn at 184 DeKalb Avenue
What: Peking duck, scallion pancakes, pickled vegetables, bok choy in duck brodo sauces, bottle of cava or sparkling rose.
How much: $130 for a whole duck, $75 for a half duck

A Very Brooklyn New Year’s Eve
When: Wednesday, December 31 from 5pm onwards
Where: Putnam’s Pub and Cooker at 419 Myrtle Avenue
What: Four-course pre-fixe dinner, ball drop, live music from DJs Jeff Base, Soul Finger and Morris Code
