Good Will Hunting Screening
When: Monday, August 25, 8pm
Where: Die Stammkneipe/Der Schwarze Kölner (710 Fulton Street at Hanson Place)
What: DSK continues honoring the life and work of Robin Williams with a showing of Good Will Hunting, which earned him a Best Supporting Actor Oscar in 1998.

Young Readers Book Group Meeting
When: Tuesday, August 26, 6:30pm
Where: Greenlight Bookstore (686 Fulton Street at South Portland Avenue)
What: A group of kids ages eight to 14 will discuss Mark Goldblatt’s Twerp, and pizza will be served. The event is open to the public, and even if your youngster doesn’t belong to the group yet, he or she can get a leg up on reading for next month–and 15% Twerp before the event.

Women Wines Wednesdays
When: Wednesday, August 27, 6-9pm
Where: Corkscrew Wines (489 Myrtle Avenue between Hall and Ryerson Streets)
What: This weekly series focuses on female wine produces, and how a feminine touch can make for the perfect bottle. Sip, learn, and enjoy.

Walk-A-Thon for Children & Senior Health Programs
When: Thursday, August 28, 9am
Where: Starting at Putnam Triangle Plaza (near Grand Avenue and Fulton Street)
What: Stay fit and help others do the same with this Fort Greene Council-organized walk to raise awareness for health and wellness initiatives. You can register ahead of time by calling 718-638-6910 or 718-773-2600, or get to the plaza as early as 8am on Thursday to sign up in person.

Slimmy Jimmy Dance Party
When: Friday, August 29, starting at 10pm
Where: The Emerson (551 Myrtle Avenue at Emerson Place)
What: Boogie down to disco and 80’s tunes, and of course enjoy your fair share of beer and cocktails.

Brooklyn Navy Yard: Past, Present & Future
When: Saturday, August 30, 12-6pm
Where: BLDG 92
What: Check out 150 years of photographed and recorded history at the Navy Yard, from war ships to rooftop farms and beyond, displayed over three floors at BLDG 92.

The Bodyguard Screening
When: Sunday, August 31, 8pm
Where: Habana Outpost (757 Fulton Street at South Portland Avenue)
What: Habana still has a number of free movies scheduled in the coming months, but who knows how long it will stay beautiful like this outside? As long as the weather’s good, come see the Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner classic.
