Fort Greene businesswoman and art collector/curator Kyle DeWoody, 29, made The New York Observer’s style list of “Top 20 New York Socialites To Know This Year” in recognition of her efforts to highlight work by contemporary artists.

[She] has followed in the foot steps of her mother, Beth Rudin DeWoody, as an avid supporter and collector of contemporary art. The cool girl, who recently traded her Manhattan digs for a repurposed Masonic temple in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, is also the proprietor of Grey Area, a gallery/marketplace for collaboration items created by modern artists.

DeWoody’s art gallery/store Grey Area (165 Clermont Avenue) opened in 2011 and, as noted in a recent New York Times profile, has featured both low- and high-cost items like Fake Roleys (fake Rolex watches made of silicone, for $40) by New York-based designer Shelter Serra and “wood and fiberglass shelves that resemble uncut stone” ($650+) by Snarkitecture in Brooklyn.

DeWoody also has a second Grey Area location via a pop-up gallery in East Hampton and is expanding to the West Coast.
