Fort Greene Is Among The Worst Brooklyn Neighborhoods For Street Parking, Says Trulia

It’s no secret that for residents in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill who drive and have a car, the vigilance over neighborhood street sparking spaces is REAL. So much so that the myriad real estate developments coming to the area almost ubiquitously have on-site garage parking — or bike parking — incorporated into their layouts, and the community spoke out when the city/mayor’s affordable housing plan threatened to eat away at parking availability.

Apparently that vigilance is also evident in a new study by real estate website Trulia, which lists Fort Greene and Downtown Brooklyn among the Top 10 worst Brooklyn neighborhoods for street parking, and as being pretty low on the list of places where rentals include parking.

Apparently Fort Greene gets a score of 28 out of 100 for street parking availability and only 6 percent of rentals include parking options via garage or a private spot.

In fact, several of Fort Greene’s neighboring neighborhoods also made the list of Top 10 worst. Vinegar Hill came in first/worst, while Downtown/DUMBO and Brooklyn Heights also ranked.

Trulia partnered with Parknav, an app that helps drivers find parking spots, to determine how easily drivers could find a space during peak times on weekdays and weekends.
