Flatbush-Tompkins Congregational Church Seeks Choir Members With Songs In Their Hearts

The Flatbush-Tompkins Congregational Church (1802-1806 Dorchester Road between E 18th and E 19th Streets) is currently on the lookout for singers who’d like to join their volunteer choir. The choir, which is directed by George Davy, holds practice at the church building every Wednesday evening from 7-9pm, and performs during regular worship services from September through June.

Singers can expect a repertoire including motets, standard church anthems, spirituals, and contemporary pieces, as well as works by Palestrina, Byrd, Mozart, Bach, Franck, Rutter, Gordon Young, Mark Hayes, Robert Shaw, Richard Smallwood, and Kurt Car.

All voices are needed, but the organization is especially lacking in tenor and bass singers–so if you can hold a tune and you’ve got the time, contact Choir President Janice Thomas at janice_e_thomas@yahoo.com or 917-673-2732.
