The Flatbush Farm Share CSA Winter Season Is Now Open
The Flatbush Farm Share let us know its CSA (community supported agriculture) is taking new members for the winter season.
You can sign up here if you’re interested in being part of the FFS winter share, which includes six pick-ups on Saturday morning every two weeks, from November 8 to January 17. The pick-up site is at the Flatbush Reformed Church (890 Flatbush Avenue).
The chance to sign up for the winter share will end on October 22.
The FFS’ main partner farm is The Farm at Miller’s Crossing, located in the Hudson Valley, and full and single vegetable shares are available, as well as eggs. The full vegetable share includes six to 10 pounds of storage veggies and up to one to three packages of frozen vegetables, with salad and cooking greens as weather allows.
The single share includes four to six pounds of storage vegetables and frozen veggies as well.
The shares are available on a sliding scale, with the FFS noting that they want to make fresh, organic food accessible to people of all income levels. The level one shares (which include individuals who make less than $21,000; two people who make under about $24,000; and so on) are already sold out, but there are plenty of options still available. To check out where you land on their pricing scale, you can go here. The prices for the vegetable shares range from $67 for a level one single share to $258 for a level four full share.
The FFS noted that they are entirely run on volunteers, who write newsletters, communicate with farmers, organize special events, plant for the future of the CSA, and more. You can let them know if you’d like to be involved here.
