Flatbush Ave Business Watch: Marco’s To Close, More Hungry Ghost & A Big Check Cashing Move
Things are moving and shaking along Flatbush Avenue. Here’s a look at some of the recent comings and goings, in case you haven’t been keeping track:
- Marco’s, the Franny’s offshoot that’s been serving amazing pasta and more since opening in September 2013 at 295 Flatbush Avenue will close on December 13. “Unfortunately, as amazing as the food is and as warm and skilled our service, the business simply hasn’t been profitable enough to keep the doors open,” they told Eater.
- Hungry Ghost has added its fourth location just a few blocks from its Flatbush Ave one…and it’s pretty much also on Flatbush Ave. They opened last week in the old Prospect Perk space at 183 Sterling Place, just off Flatbush — the same owner had been running Prospect Perk since before the opened the first Hungry Ghost in 2012.
- The beautiful 6,000-square-foot building at 230 Flatbush Ave is for rent, and the check cashing business that’s currently there is moving two doors down, according to Here’s Park Slope. It’s offered either as the first floor only, or as the first and second floor, and they suggest it could be a “flagship retail, bank, restaurant, or bar.”
Other things along or just off the Avenue to keep an eye on: Doughnut Plant is coming soon, and they’re still working on Parm and Patsy’s.
